Airtel Adds 1.3Lakh Wireless Users In Oct, Surpasses Vi, Jio
Hyderabad: Airtel, a telecommunications service provider, said it has emerged as the leader in wireless subscriber additions in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh circle for October 2024. Airtel added 133,270 wireless subscribers in the region, bringing its total subscriber base to 33,741,507, according to the latest data release by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
Other private operators like Vodafone Idea (VIL) and Reliance Jio recorded subscriber losses of 93,932 and 2,91,300, followed by state-owned BSNL that list 1,088 wireless subscribers during the same period.
Nationally, Airtel added 1.93 million (1,928,263) wireless subscribers across all telecom circles in October 2024. With this, its total wireless subscriber base has surged to 385.41 million (38,541,0746), as of October 31, 2024. This achievement demonstrates Airtel’s continued leadership in customer acquisition and market expansion, an official Airtel press release mentioned.
TRAI also reported Airtel’s peak Visitor Location Register (VLR) at 99.23 per cent in the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana circle, while its overall VLR percentage stood at 99.48 per cent, the highest in the industry, it said further adding that these figures highlight Airtel’s network quality and reliability, further solidifying its position as a trusted telecom provider.
The telecom industry witnessed a decline in total wireless subscribers in India, from 1,153.72 million at the end of September 2024 to 1,150.42 million at the end of October 2024, wherein Airtel’s market share stood at 33.50 per cent.
